Dimitri Cervo (1968), Brazilian composer and pianist, wrote works such as Toronubá, Pattapiana, Canauê and Toccata Amazônica that have been widely performed and recorded in Brazil and abroad. His discography includes one individual CD, Toronubá, that won Prêmios Açorianos 2007 for best classical album and composer, and works released in many CDs by several chamber groups and artists. Between 1997 and 2008 he composed his Série Brasil 2000, a set of works that were performed over a hundred times in Brazil, United States, Argentina, Portugal, France and Germany.

Cervo presented in public his first compositions at age fourteen. In 1991 he took place at the composition and film music (with Ennio Morricone) classes at the Accademia Chigiana of Sienna. In 1995 he started to gain national recognition when won the first prize in the Competition for Orchestral Works at the Londrina Music Festival (Brazil), with Abertura e Toccata for orchestra. In 1996 he performed the premiere of his Passacaglia Fantasia for piano and orchestra, in Salvador, Bahia. In 1997 he signed an Internet publishing contract with Freehand (Seattle, USA), pioneering the publishing of new music on the WEB. The composer was featured in Billboard, Sheet Music and Music & Computers magazines. In 2000 his Pequena Suíte Brasileira was awarded prize of jury and audience at the Fifth Aliénor Harpsichord Composition Competition (USA). It was released in CD by Elaine Funaro and published by Wayne Leopold Editions. In 2008 his works Brasil 2000 and Canauê were premiered in Europe, in Paris and Aveiro. In 2009 he started a new set of works, Série Brasil 2010, devoted to concerts for soloists and String, Chamber or Symphonic Orchestra.

His book O Minimalismo e sua Influência na Composição Musical Brasileira Contemporânea was published in 2005, pioneering the subject in Brazil.  Since 2006 he has been teaching at the Music Department of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Cervo’s works have been performed by Orquestra Sinfônia de Sergipe, Cia Bachiana Brasileira, John Boudler and Grupo PIAP, Orquestra de Câmara do Theatro São Pedro, Ney Rosauro and Miami Percussion Ensemble, Orquestra de Câmara da ULBRA, Durum Percussão Brasil, Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro, Orquestra Sinfônica do RN, Orquestra Sinfônica de Santa Maria, Orquestra Sinfônica da USC, Grupo de Percussão da UFSM, Percusionistas de Buenos Aires, and by soilists like Olinda Allessandrini, Catarina Domenici, Elaine Funaro, James Strauss, Cíntia de los Santos, and led by conductors as  Guilherme Mannis, Ricardo Rocha, Lutero Rodrigues, Roberto Duarte, Karl Martin, Cláudio Ribeiro, Tiago Flores, Manfredo Schmiedt, Ada Pelleg, André Cardoso, Mark Cedel, among others. His output includes works for percussion, string orchestra, chamber ensembles, orchestra, piano and orchestra, solo instruments, and choir. His works were performed in all Brazilian states, and also in countries like United States, Argentina, Paraguay, Portugal, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Switzerland, Norway, Israel and Serbia.
